BigPicture 8.4 and BigGantt 8.4 are now live, and just a few weeks after the previous version has landed. Version 8.4, like its predecessor, improves usability, accessibility, and user experience. It also makes the reporting aspect of Portfolio management even more convenient.

Even easier planning and scope management

With the 8.4 version, we continue our effort to smooth out the user experience. Our work focuses on creating an easier, more intuitive tool that requires even less time to master and unleash its full potential. That’s why the synchronization with Jira is getting deeper and deeper.

In BigPicture and BigGantt 8.4, all your work item structures built and modified within the app sync with Jira automatically. You can edit your scope structures at any time and see those changes in Jira immediately. Also, you can convert your BigPicture or BigGantt “basic tasks” into Jira issues in just a few clicks.

Moreover, your favorite Quick Filters are becoming even more accessible. You can arrange the order in which the Quick Filters are displayed on the list with a simple drag and drop technique. No more scrolling and searching, your favorite filters are always available at hand. The Board module of BigPicture is getting a huge upgrade with the in-line editing of team capacity directly in it. The updated values, such as closed or reopened tasks, sync automatically with all relevant contexts. Monitoring execution of these tasks has become yet more intuitive with the help of visualized work ratio in the form of status bars. Just a quick glance and you know your initiative’s status.

Portfolio management – improved reporting and new report types

Overview columns in BigPicture and BigGantt, such as Status, Budget, Actual Cost, and Estimated Cost, can be grouped by new outlines. These are status categories, a status category in percentage, or status in percentage. This way you can get the big picture of work progress and the overall health of your initiatives at a glance.

BigPicture Enterprise gets two new report types: Milestones & Markers table, and Velocity bar chart. The former allows users to generate a report showing milestones or generate a report showing markers for the selected period. The latter, Velocity bar chart, is a report showing Velocity & Sprint Plan for iterations.

This version of the BigPicture suite – 8.4 – is a continuation of our effort to create even more intuitive and accessible apps, suited for many different needs and ideas of our users. Every new version of our suite brings even more to the table and, as usual, more is yet to come.
