SoftwarePlant joins Appfire

We are delighted to share with you some exciting news! We are now part of Appfire! We’ve opened a new thrilling chapter by joining the Appfire family – one of the fastest-growing and most disruptive players in the Atlassian ecosystem. Appfire is on a mission to support founders and teams with a powerful platform to build incredible solutions – fueled by innovation and customer feedback.

Supercharged growth ahead!

Our suite of management applications brings a whole new strategic product category to Appfire’s portfolio – PPM. Simultaneously, the extensive experience, expertise, and business acumen of the globally distributed team are unlocking new growth opportunities for SoftwarePlant. Shared values, a growth-centric mindset, and the strong drive to be at the very forefront of digital disruption on the software market make SoftwarePlant and Appfire a perfect match.

“As BigPicture’s customer base has grown, there’s also been more demand for new functionality and better performance, reliability, and security,” commented Tom Kucharski, co-founder and CEO, SoftwarePlant. “We felt that we could make improvements in sales and other areas with help from a strategic advisor to grow even further. We knew we needed a partner, and we were excited to find that Appfire’s team already shared our vision for the product and our values, in addition to the huge portfolio and market expertise they bring.”

On top of the unique know-how in the field of business scaling, Appfire brings a massive portfolio of applications to the table – many of which may augment BigPicture with new functions and features, giving it an unprecedented competitive advantage.

“The rapidly expanding PPM market is at the center of the digital transformation wave and ripe for disruption. SoftwarePlant’s team and technology combined with our experience scaling software businesses will allow us to offer a compelling alternative solution,” said Randall Ward, co-founder and CEO, Appfire. “Tom and Mike know this space intimately and share our exciting vision for BigPicture, including integrating many apps within our portfolio and expansion to other popular ecosystems.”

Looking into the future

As our customer base has grown to nearly 30,000 installs worldwide, the customer requirements and expectations have increased as well.

“Through countless discussions,” Tom said, “we realized we share the same vision of what modern portfolio management should look like. I felt literally like some folks from Appfire already worked in the BigPicture team. We spoke with lots of potential investors and partners, and we felt we have the most in common with Appfire. It was a level of alignment we had not expected to find with anyone!”

Appfire’s headcount increased significantly by the combination of our two teams, bringing it to nearly 400 team members worldwide. However, Appfire has already worked for years, to build internal processes and infrastructure to support a team of this size and beyond. As a result, the BigPicture team, as well as all the talents yet to join the company, can enjoy seamless employee onboarding processes, IT tooling and infrastructure, marketing frameworks that scale, data management and reporting, finance and accounting standards, extensible product architecture frameworks, and a global support engineering team that strives to empower customers through helpful and thoughtful interactions.

Getting even more customer-centric

Many BigPicture customers are already existing Appfire customers. Appfire is committed to providing an all-star product support experience, and to shipping continuous improvements to your Atlassian tooling through its innovative apps. SoftwarePlant is joining Appfire in this mission.

BigPicture, BigPicture Enterprise, BigGantt, and BigTemplate customers can continue to manage app subscriptions and licenses through the Atlassian Marketplace, or your preferred Atlassian reseller.
